Black Swarovski Optik Field Bag - dimensions?

Does anyone use the black 'Swarovski Field Bag' as shown in below link?

http://www.swarovskioptik.com/en/pre...pr-en_fieldbag

I own a pair of Viking ED 8x42 binoculars and I have been trying endlessly to find a semi-hard type of case for them (I don't have the original one as I bought them 2nd hand). The Swarovski Field Bag is the closest thing I can find - all the other cases I come across are softer nylon, neoprene etc. and I specifically want a semi-rigid case.

Does anyone actually own this field bag in a size Medium - I am trying to find out the internal dimensions, but Swarovski only tells you which binos they are designed to fit, and I have contacted 3 manufacturers here in the UK, none of which have been able to tell me the actual measurements! I know the Medium field bag is designed for the x30/32 Swarovski's while the Large bag is for x42 Swarovski's. But looking at the dimensions of the Swarovski binos, my 8x42 Viking's are actually quite abit shorter and I think they might actually fit in a Medium bag. I want the bag to be as snug a fit as possible anyway.

If you have either the Medium or Large bag, I'd be so grateful if you could measure the inside and post the actual dimensions!

Thanks

Hi,

I received a medium bag with my Swarovski 8 x 30 SLC. I tried my Leupold 7 x 42 binocular in it and it fit with room to spare. You can get the binocular's measurements here:

http://www.eagleoptics.com/binocular...7x42-binocular

I measured the interior to be just under 7 inches deep, slightly less than 6 inches across with the bottom exterior about 3 inches wide. My longer 8.5 x 44 Swift Audubon Roof Prism 828 was a snugger fit. You can get it's measurements in the website above.

You should be aware that this is not really a hard shell case but it's material is harder than a typical case. It also has 2 pockets in it's interior for papers and a notebook and maybe items like optional eye shield eyecups or a small bottle of lens cleaning spray.

Welcome to Bird Forum.

Give us a report, a subjective one is ok, or technical if you wish, on how you like your new Viking 8 x 42.

Bob

Thanks for the quick reply. That info is really useful.

My binos are at the repair centre at the mo - bought them second hand and turned out the dioptre adjustment was faulty (hence I think I got such a good price!). But luckily the 10 year warranty covered it. My first impressions were good before I sent them off, but I can write a quick review when I get them back. I'm no bino expert, but I previously had a pair of Nikon Sport Lite 10x25's, so my new ones are a vast step-up. I look forward to giving them a proper try out!

Thanks again.

Don't know if it would be a deal breaker but the Field Bags are Green. The pictures are on the dark side.
