Surprised no-ones mentioned Michaela's clanger at the end. Rufous coloured Peregrine chicks poking out a hole eh?
![]() And yes Daddy Long Legs is something of a catch-all term these days but only one critter actually goes by that precise common name and that is the Daddy-Longlegs Spider, Pholcus phalangiodes. It's also referred to as a Cellar Spider because that's it's favourite habitat.

They have had good stuff on over the years but it felt as if it played second best to their banter. Last year year they had Wood Warbler, Grasshopper Warbler, Heron, Buzzard, Spotted Flycatcher and Redstart. They even planned for Little Egret but I think the cameras failed. I have watched it since 2007 and I think this has been the best series so far.

It is hard to believe 3 weeks of Springwatch is over so quickly and with it the nesting period for many birds. I like to watch it 2 times - just after the live broadcast and then a repeat of the series after it is taken off air but still on IPlayer.
It is hard to believe two years have passed since they were at Pensthorpe and they had the action from Little Ringed Plover, Swallows, Avocet, Wrens and the usual passerines. It has been an unpredictable spring and they did well to overcome the mini natural disaster. They did once again target different species such as Treecreeper, Blackcap, Sedge Warbler. I would love to see them put a camera on a Corvid nest. Have they ever done that? |

I really enjoyed it this year, and ironically, the flood allowed them to do something different, and gave Chris more opportunity to educate us.
I wish, though, they'd produce a compilation of the best Springwatch location reports, some of the highlights are watching lucky b*ggers reporting from rugged, exotic places. Like Mul..... |
