Dead Chick ID Iceland

Found in a forest on Saturday. Quite large for a Snipe chick and that bill too small?

Can it be Woodcock but they dont breed in Iceland?

yes, it's a snipe - the bill would still have had a long way to grow but the juvenile feathers already grown are definitely snipe.

This Snipe chick was found in the Valgoruskgar (I forgot the exact spelling) forest - what was a Snipe doing in there?
