Ringed Stonechat - Marazion UK

Hi, took some pictures today, at random, it turns out this stonechat was ringed .. never snapped a ringed bird before. I presume that I have to get seriously close to be of any use for ID purposes.

Might be a useful yardstick..as far as bridge cameras are concerned? I have an optical 30x Sony..and had a ''ringed'' Redpoll 8' away from the window. At 30x..I couldn't read the ring..I then went to full full digital (x8) which equates to x240!!...and only then, did I achieve a ''read out''.

cheers

We've ringed a few Stonechats at Marazion over the last couple of years, so it'll almost certainly be one of these. If you do manage to get a photo that shows some numbers let me know and we may be able to trace it.

Hi Mark

When I got home today and reviewed my images, I too saw leg-bands on this stonechat, snapped at Llobregat, near Barcalona. Attached are two images - you can almost make out numbers. If you can tell which bird this is, I would love its history...

Regards,

Wayne

Can't make out much on this bird, but if you do then you'll need to contact the Spanish ringing scheme via oem@mma.es
