Marrakai Track NT

Superb days birding along the Marrakai Track on 2/8. Two of us spent the day in this superb area. We didn't find any buttonquails (the main area for chestnut backed had recently been severly burnt and was not really suitable) or sitellas but other than that we could not have asked for more. Highlights included Little and Masked Woodswallows; Bar breasted and Banded Honeyeaters; Pallid Cuckoo; Black-tailed Treecreepers; Grey Shrike-thrush; White-throated Gerygone; Buff-sided Robin; 35+ Gouldian Finches; Rufous Songlark; Masked, Long-tailed and Crimson Finches; 12+ Brown Falcons (no Black Falcon or Back-breasted Buzzards; Diamond Dove & Varied Lorikeet. A quick visit to Fogg Dam on way back was rewarded with Red Kneed Dotterel.
Mammals were well represented as well with Antilopine Wallaroo, Agile Wallaby and Dingo
A brilliant day out!
