Hi there,

I'll be spending a couple of weeks in the Kuching area in late Nov/early Dec. I understand that the weather won't be too brilliant then, but wonder whether anyone has any tips on good places to go and what to expect.

Any help much appreciated.

I hope you get this in time, the link is to a coastal resort that you can get to using the daily shuttle bus from the Holiday Inn on the waterfront in Kuching. I was there in May and saw a good variety of birds both on the beach and in the surrounding forest at the top of the cliffs within the hotel grounds, the hotel have built steps up from the beach.

There are several also National Parks that have guided tours
but you may prefer to go at your own pace in the hotel grounds. You will see from the link that the Cultural village is also a short walk away. I have included a distant (pre my digiscoping days) picture of a kingfisher that was resident near the stream by the workers compound adjacent to the beach. This may not be the best location but it is convenient and safe if you are on a tight timetable. Good luck
