Great work and always good to see another pencileer* on the board.

* I made that up and I'm sticking with it...

A couple more updates for you. I'm loving the challenging textures of these two, makes such a nice change from dogs and cats! :)
Stunning drawing. Your rendering of the fur is quite remarkable and conveys incredible softness. Already a remarkable drawing Meg.

You are showing tremendous skill with these drawings, and after only four years of drawing? Do you work in the field as well?

Hi Folks,

I've been off the forum a long while it would seem, can't believe I never posted up the finished Gorillas! My apologies. Here they be for those of you who enjoyed seeing the drawing progress :)

I've just this week started a Puffin portrait which is going to be more of a study as will emerge later on. I do have a Facebook group too with more updates and such if you like that sort of thing, https://www.facebook.com/megghyllpencilartist I'm having difficulties attaching a Puffin progress pic for some reason but you can see it from here too.

Thanks very much for looking! :)

Hmm, if you mean do I work in art for a job, yes, I am self-employed but it's not a full-time occupation unfortunately. If you mean do I work out in the fild sketching then no I tend to mainly work from photographs, I have sketched for fun while on holiday as a time out :)

And many thanks Bigshent! :)

Atlantic Puffin

Here's a sneak preview of my Puffin's progress :) Any thoughts? This is only the second bird I've attempted ever, the first being the Osprey mentioned at the start of the thread. This Puffin's been a lot of fun so far, especially capturing that bill in monochrome.

Thanks for looking,
Meg

Your artwork is fabulous! It has such a photographic, 3 dimensional look that it seems you can reach out and touch the animal.
