Nikon WU-1a and P330

Hello Nikon Users,
for my digiscoping pictures i am using a P330 in M (manual) with MF (manual focus) mode. Now I wanted to use the WU 1-a Wireless Mobile Adapter to trigger the shutter with my android mobile phone or my ipod. When the Wireless Adapter is inserted in can no longer use the cameras manual focus. The camera always tries to autofocus with bad results.
Has anybody tried this combination too, and can give any advice?

Best regards from Bergheim / Cologne
