Rechargeable lithium CR123A Batteries.

Has anyone any experience of these batteries for use in the Canon 8x25 IS?

Are they even allowed in the Canon 8x25 IS?

I suppose they need a special charger, which might come as a package with a battery.
Perhaps one needs two, or a backup normal CR 123A.

No experience with the CR123A rechargeables except for my flashlight.
The rechargeables have a different chemistry than the disposables, have about a third as much stored power and a somewhat higher voltage, 3.7V vs 3.0V for the disposables.
My Canon 10x42 seems happier with the 1.7V AA lithium batteries than with the 1.4V Eneloop Nimh rechargeables. It glitched with the rechargeables, so I don't use them any more.
Does Canon give an allowable voltage range for the 8x25?
