What Camera To Buy??? (1 Viewer)

Hi there

just looking for some advice and guidance on my next camera purchase. have been using a fugi finepix s5700 for over a year now and though its a great camera and i get good results especially in macro, the 10x zoom just leaves me frustrated when it comes to good results in bird photography. i have seen on various forums that a lot of people using this camera do move on to digital slr and i feel thats where i am heading. i have looked at the nikon d40 and the canon 300/350 as these seems to have good reviews and are in my budget. i am a novice in photography so would really appreciate some views on the best camera out there and if anyone has time also the best telephoto lenses (budget) that are available. thanks in advance
