Sri Lanka 26 Oct - 5 Nov: (1 Viewer)

On the way to Galle we drove past Tissa Lake along a causeway lined with huge trees. ...

Ooh, pics show a bad day for the frogs! Typical I guess, but so vividly shot. Very much like the fish eagle with fish. (I have no special feelings of pity for fish I suppose!)

Thanks Mike for the great report. We have friends from Sri Lanka, but not given much thought to going there (our friends are all from there, not people with such good memories of life there). This report is really encouraging - sounds like a delightful time, and lots of nice birds. Appreciate your taking the time to put this together. Perhaps we'll reference it one day...

#1 location on birding bucket list

In the Travel supplement with Birdwatch magazine, Sri Lanka is No.1 location on birding bucket list, would certainly support it being worth a visit.

Thanks Gretchen - I nearly called the Tissa Lake post "a bad day for frogs" . . . and do go if you get the chance - Sri Lanka is truly wonderful.

Cheers
Mike
