Has anyone ever noted Brachytron pratense hawking in woodland? Reason I ask is I have an unsolved mystery from back on June 30th when I saw my first hawker of the year in a small woodland clearing (and not close to any ponds though there is one in the wood with broad-bodied chasers).
It was really flighty and I couldn't get a good fix on it in strong sunlight. My impression was that it looked small for a hawker due to a stubby appearance, but brief flashes showed it was definitely a mosaic type. It couldn't have been a migrant hawker so early so thinking it was just that I hadn't yet got my eye in and was misjudging the size I put it down as a probable common hawker, but now having seen some of those again I realise it certainly wasn't.
It's a species not really known in our area (north-east England) and I've never seen one, nor can I find any mention of them being noted in woodlands. Unless anyone knows better? Certainly has me baffled.

Thanks
