Avid Birder
Hi
Spent the late afternoon at Lackford Lakes in Suffolk for some peaceful birding. But it was one of those days when there was nothing unusual around. Was after the hobby I saw last weekend. Instead, I managed to spot the usual warblers, but alas no birds of prey...
When I got home I looked out the window overlooking my back garden, and to my suprise was a female sparrowhawk about 4 foot away in the middle of the lawn plucking the feathers from what appeared to be a pigeon. She was so close - what a fearsome sight! Unfortunately she spotted me pretty quickly and made a dash for it, leaving her kill to be carted off by next doors cat about 30 mins later.
Goes to show not to neglect your own back yard!
