Bird Wing Images Database (1 Viewer)

Hi everyone,

I thought this online resource might be of interest to folks here. The University of Puget Sound in the Seattle/Tacoma area has an excellent natural history museum (Slater Museum of Natural History). One of the resources of the museum is an online database of images of bird wings from their collection. On a related note I just noticed this newest David Sibley blog entry. All part of the mystery of bird flight.

When I first started doing bird art four years ago I bought an inexpensive book on birds, 'Encyclopedia of Bird Reference Drawings' by David Mohrhardt. I was thoroughly disappointed since it was just diagrams of wings, feet, etc. I wanted to see bird art! But now four years later I picked it up and realized that it might be very helpful sometimes to have be able to see the feet, bill and flight feathers of a Fox Sparrow all on one page. Quite a few species are covered.
