Death Of The Alpha? (1 Viewer)

No posts for 4 days? Dennis must be sick then. Probably got the flu or something.

Otherwise he'd surely be promoting his latest love to make sure someone snatches it up on Ebay at an inflated price so he can get himself a Noctivid or an SF ... :king:

Well I got the chance to have a quick look through the 10x42 Noctivid and 10x and 8x Zeiss SF today. Both great bins and I preferred the 10x SF to the 8x. I'd need a longer test to pick between the two tens though, although I preferred the weight and feel of the Zeiss.

What this does tell me though is that the 'alpha' isn't dead - if I had the cash I'd be keen to own either of these bins...
Have you had a chance to try a Tract Toric or a Maven yet? You might just forget about those overpriced alpha's.

Hey, no posts since 4 days !!
So this means the alpha is now finally, completely and utterly dead ?
Or, to say it in the words of a famous person on Twitter:" Total disaster - sad!"
Can I send flowers - where ??
You can send them to Troubador. He will have about three burials.

Those are the brands that I have found that I really like and they work for me. I have tried a LOT of other brands including most of the alpha's. I steer clear of the cheaper CPOS because of QA problems. If I try something new and I like them I will add them to the list. The Tract Toric 8x42 replaced my 8x32 SV, the Maven B.2 9x45 and Canon 10x42 IS-L replaced my SV 10x50. I am not BRAND conscious any more. Whatever works good for me. But if I was looking for a different format I would look at what Tract and Maven had first because I know they are great values and very high quality. I will buy the new Canon 10x42 IS-L II sight unseen.

How did the Noctivid compare to the Zeiss SF optically? The Zeiss 10x42 SF is a nice binocular. My third favorite 10x. Canon 10x42 IS-L is first and the Swarovski 10x50 SV is second. Was the Zeiss SF the new black model?

I am done with that overpriced German Junk!3:)

Try the Sig Sauer zulu 9 and zulu 7 instead. you can buy it from UK now.
The Outdoor Life review was very complimentary about the Sig Sauer 9 11x45. It had the best resolution of any binocular in their test and there was a Leica Ultravid Plus tested. See what I am telling you. These Kamakura binoculars are top quality. The Sig's are very similar to the Maven's. I like the Tactical look. It is cool and different.

Would be interesting to se a test between the Maven b2 and Sig Sauer Zulu 9, identical specs and similar priced.

Havent tried them but the zulu 7 could maybe be a good contester to the tract. The reviews looks good. Made by kamakura and same specs.
Here is a video review on the Zulu 7 10x42 by Jeff Brozovich. He said he is going to replace his 8x32 Swarovski's with them and that they match up to the Swarovski's. The Sig's look real close in specifications to the Tracts and a similar price at Midway which seems about the best price at $679.99. Nice looking in graphite! They also come with a nice case. You can get them for $575.00 shipped on Ebay.

Does the Zulu 7 match up to anything in the Maven or Tract lines?
The Zulu 7's are pretty close in specifications to the Tract Toric 8x 42 and 10x42. Look similar. One thing I noticed about the Zulu 7 that I don't like is it has a polymer chassis versus the magnesium chassis on the Tract and bigger Maven's. What is strange is the Zulu 5 which is less expensive has a magnesium chassis and the Zulu 9 which is more expensive has the magnesium chassis and AK prisms.
