Hi!
The first pictures I ever took, 55 years ago, were of birds in my backyard. My spirit has always been lightened by their flight and their freedom. Of course, now that I'm older, I recognize how difficult their lives are, but I am still inspired by them - enough to start to learn more.
I'm an absolute beginner at this - I can't even identify more than a handful of common birds. I've found that it helps if I take pictures of them and then try to find them in a Peterson Field Guide I bought. Even with that, I sometimes can't tell exactly what bird I saw. I joined the Audubon Society and have visited a couple of their wildlife sanctuaries, but I think I'm going to have to put a lot more time into this if I'm going to become anywhere near proficient. Any advice would be gratefully received!
