What bird is this? (1 Viewer)

Fledgling robin just out of the nest. Unless you moved it to where they can't find it, the parents will continue to feed & look after it

We did move it, we thought it was an adult, but it can't fly. It was out in the open and there are so many cats running around outside. We thought we were saving it and planning to contact the appropriate people to come and get it. We are still pretty sure a cat will kill it if its outside but should we put it back? It has been moved for a couple hours.

Tough question. If you can get it to somebody who knows how to care for it (& has the time & inclination to do so) that might be your best bet. If not, I'd put it back out in the yard, if possible out of the easy reach of cats, & hope for the best. The sad fact is that most robin fledglings get eaten by something; otherwise we'd be drowning in them.

Thank you for the advice. We are going to put it back and let nature be in charge of the little birdie, there is no safe place to put it out of reach of cats so we are just going to put it right back where we found it. We don't want him to get eaten but realize we need to look at the bigger picture here. We had it inside overnight but I read online that the parents don't care for it while its dark anyway, so we kept it safe from the cats for one night. Thank you!
