Birding for fun
Huge numbers of lizards around the parks etc in Funchal, including garden of our hotel. Wide range of colour, with some dark green, some with blue tinges whilst majority brown. Are they all same species and of so, which.
Thanks for suggestions,
Cheers,
Jono

They are all Lacerta dugesii - Madeira Lizards - which are the only native lacertid on the archipelago. I think Tenerife Lizards (non-native) can also be found around the parks of Funchal.

Thanks for that: unwittingly got their name correct in the title! If only it always worked like that.
Cheers,
Jono
