Newbie help. Light Tripod/Head (1 Viewer)

Vancouver Island Birder

Brian McAllister
Hello from Vancouver Island Canada,

This question has probably been discussed in these forums before, so if you want to point me to the right thread, I would appreciate it.

I am considering purchasing a Kowa TSN-603, the 60mm with XD glass. The weight of this scope is quite light, coming in at 745g or 26oz.

In the Manforotto line of tripods, what model tripod and head would be a good match for MAXIMUM stability, yet being nice and light to match the above noted scope.

You might also look at the Velbon series of tripods. The Velbon cf 630 or even 530 if you want really light, might suit your needs. It is best to match a tripod to your particular height (which you have not told us). I found that the Manfrotto tripod legs were either too short or unnecessarily tall (and thus unnecessarily heavy) for my needs.
