Recommendations please - bushes to facilitate nest-building (1 Viewer)

I hope I've chosen the most relevant place to post this question: if not, please forgive me ... I'm new! ;)

My garden walls & fences have been draped in well-established ivy for years, and this has facilitated plenty of very successful nest building (mainly by blackbirds and robins).
However, my neighbour has decided to replace one of the fences (at some expense) and she has made me promise that I won't grow ivy on the new structure.
I've reluctantly agreed ... so I need an alternative form of plant life (a bush of some sort) that won't interfere with the fence, but will serve equally as well as the ivy has, as 'scaffolding' for nests ... any suggestions, please?

Many thanks for the suggestion KCFoggin ... yes, hawthorne would be absolutely ideal. (Hopefully, the structure of it will also deter cats from climbing over the fence too!)
