Birding Trip - Extremadura, Spain, April 2016 (1 Viewer)

Nice! Good to encounter birds like the Long-eared Owls too that you wouldn't have necessarily been targeting.

How many species did you see? - a trip list on reports always nice to see, but not necessary (do think you should add the year to the title though ... )

Thanks for the feedback guys, much appreciated.

Thats a good question dantheman, I dont think we actually counted haha.. I have tallied them up and come to a total of 122 (see list below), although I've probably missed some. I have not included heard only species, like Scops Owl and Quail.... and Yes the Long-eared Owl was amazing, first time I had ever seen one and I was shaking with excitement when I was photographing it!

foresttwitcher, which region in Spain will you be visiting?.

Sounds interesting, I've driven through Castilla la Mancha quite a lot but never really done any birding there.... will be keeping an eye out to see how you get on.

Very good report, brought back great memories of a lovely place. Extremadura was our first overseas birding trip in April 2009 and it really gave my friends and myself the taste ( some might say addiction ) for birding holidays. Mind you I do not think my bank manager is so thrilled about all the subsequent journeys abroad.
