How to see Leach's Petrel (2 Viewers)

What are conditions looking like for this pm? Thinking of booking the afternoon off and popping up. And where would be the best site to go to(would be there from around 1)?

Lack of water will be the issue. Try New Brighton looking out to see notin the river... or further west if there is water in

We spent an hour over high tide at the gunsites before trying further west and although connecting, it was not all that productive. Only 2 Leaches and 5 manxies + kittiwake in that time. There were about 10 or so cars present though, so it may have been just us that was struggling.

Managed to see two Leach's Petrel at New Brighton early this morning before moving to the Gunsite about 8.30. Three Brent Geese flew south close to the shore shortly after arrival with numerous Manxies further out and a Kittiwake for good measure. Spent high tide sheltering behind the lifeboat station at Hoylake which produced a few more Manxies along the surf line and, apart from the usual high tide beach residents, not a lot else. We should have gone to Hilbre !!!

109 Leach's total so far when I left the rest of the lads in the seawatching hide on Hilbre at 12.30. Good totals of Manx and Steve managed the shot of the adult L t Skua through his scope using the Kowa iphone adaptor - he got some video as well. Our 4th L T Skua in 3 days!

The Brent's were just N of Little Eye when I left Hilbre at 12.30

Got a single Leachs, Bonxie and hunting Peregrine just after you left John.

New Brighton had Leach's all day but mostly mid channel or the other side, max count 4 whilst I was there, and suspect that one or two present all day. Must have left before the 2 Storm Petrels seen.
