Hope to get a few days off work in the next few days and take a trip to Algarve - if you had 4-5 days maximum how would you plan the trip?

I'd use a guide if you can afford one. We used Simon Wates on two trips last year and didn't bother hiring a car. Simon has fairly standard days out and in two days with him we saw many of the areas specialities that would have been much harder on our own. Check my trip reports for more info.
Let us know how you get on and good birding.

How much did it cost to hire guide?

Here's a link to Simons' website, it will give you a bit of idea of how good he is and how to contact him, although you can also contact him by sending a private message to him on here.
One thing for sure is if you do get out with him you'll see some cracking birds you would be very lucky to see under your own steam.

Good luck with your holiday.
