Hello...new member here so please be gentle :)

Can anyone identify this please...high in the Alamas on Cyprus. I thought some sort of wheatear but the bill looks long. Seen this morning.

Hi John. Welcome to BirdForum. As others have said, your bird is a Bee-eater. Saw some in Notts a few weeks back. Great birds.

They will be passing through Cyprus now in large numbers. They are often heard before you see them. Listen out for a a pleasing churring noise often sung from quite high up as they pass.
Once heard you want forget it and it helps locate them.
 
Your right Parryman.

I often hear them in my mind, which is probably just memories of the many wonderful times that I have been fortunate to hear and also see them.

I was lucky enough to see a small flock of them today near Argaka in NW Cyprus. Pic attached. They make a lovely sound as Parryman said. Thanks all for identifying.
