Hi folks,

Leica will be introducing a new ultravid 8x20 at the UK bird fair.

Briefly:
new optics
nitrogen purged
bigger focus wheel w/ cetral diopter
~$500 US
in leather or rubber

Check out Leica's website for a glimpse or Eagle Optics for a better description and pricing (I have no affiliation w/ EO, just the only site I found with info.)

Cheers

Dan

Ultravid 32mm, as well.

You find detailed info on this new version as well as about the new 32mm Ultravids on the Leica homepage:

http://www.leica-camera.com/sportoptik/produkte/ultravid/index_e.html

Seems that the battle for the top binoculars is going on at a considerable pace. Now, if we only could keep up with it financially! :C

And also figures of eye-relief for all models (new and old ones) in the product-pdf...

http://www.leica-camera.com/sportoptik/produkte/ultravid/pdf/index_e.html

never seen that as official figures from Leica before...=)

the new 8X32 ultravid model seems to have slightly less eye relief 13 mm than the 8X32 trinovid 13,3 mm...compactness have a price...

Thanks for adding that info, Gorank. I had overlooked it because I did not want to download the full pdf-file.

Still missing, however, are the eye-relief data for the Televids, i.e. the eyepieces of the spotting-scopes.
