In Norfolk and looking for a few birds, can anyone with local knowledge advise the most reliable sites to see the following in the next few days:
Hawfinch
Crossbill
Lesser spotted
Woodlark

Thanks so much for your help in advance

Unfortunately I don't think there are any reliable sites to see Hawfinch or Lesser Spotted Woodpecker at this time of year, your best bet would be to come back in February/March ;)

That said, I would recommend heading to the Brecks, spend a bit of time in Lynford Arboretum (the only regular Norfolk site for Hawfinch, although they are mostly seen in winter) then cross the road to the heath near Lynford Water, which has Woodlark. After that either head to Santon Downham or any open area adjacent to conifers in the hope of Crossbills.

Sorry that's not particularly positive - maybe someone living in Breckland can help further.

Nb. If you are in North Norfolk rather than south then check the heaths like Kelling Heath for Woodlark, Holkham Pines in the hope of flyover Crossbill.
