Just read on teletext today that Durham Wildlife Trust and Butterfly conservation, have made an area called Longburn Ford Quarry -no location given. a nature reserve due to the Small Pearl-bordered Fritillary been found at the location.

They have a lease for the area and have put up security fencing and both organisations are protecting this rare and declining species in our region.

Well done to them.
