Fantasy reserve (1 Viewer)

Up the boro!
Here on our reserve we´re just finishing the last of the first batch of big projects, access and fencing etc., and my boss has asked me if i have any ideas we can pitch to our sponsors for new projects.

So who better to ask than you lot? Assume that money's reasonably tight - but if the project is a winner who knows how much these banks will cough up for their ´greenwash´(!) - and post some ideas here and they might get done.

To get us started - I thought we could build some artificial kingfisher and sand martin nest sites by building up one of the channels - anyone know of any good links to plans etc.?

How about some cartwheels on pylons for White Storks. Stick a "fake" nest on top & you might even hold back north-bound Osprey. If money stretches how about a wader scrape or two -with controlled water levels that last through the summer to pull in some returning waders-goodies such as Temminck's Stint or maybe even a Terek's, Marsh or Broad-billed Sandpiper. ;)

You have an uncanny ability to picture our reserve. Are you a CIA trained remote viewer? We have just put up two stork platforms complete with 'nests' and also have put in a scrape but are having teething problems with our levels. And last migration we had marsh and broad billed sandpipers! Spooky! :eek!:

Could you describe your reserve, and the habitats and features in it,please?. This would make it a lot easier and more relevant .:)

We have a small, knee deep lagoon, approx. 7 hectares with reeds and two small tern islands, a 2.5 hectare reed bed and a 1.5 hectare area which is half the wader scrape, the other half will be a wet woodland, currently being planted. The rest of the area is 44 acres of organic rice.

That wasn't a Broad-billed Sandpiper it was one of our remote surveillance units. Watch out for that large orange-billed tern it's one of ours also. ;)
