Unknown Shell, can anyone help? (1 Viewer)

Today I was at the beach and came across a lot of an odd type of shell I've never seen before. Can anyone tell what it is by the attached photos? (It was about 8in (20cm) long and 4.5in(11cm) wide at the widest. Also, I saw a few that were larger, but were broken) I'm assuming it was some kind of clam or something
