If a German footballer was asked what bird he'd like to be, surely he'd say 'Diver' a la Klinsman....8-P

Yeah. Does anyone know which bird is known to be a bad goalkeeper?

We need to make sure that any football jokes we make with our German friends do not cross the line...
Are you suggesting that we need a video referee on this thread? At least we shouldn't be short of wing-backs!

And Canary Islands Chiffchaff.
On Gran Canaria so presumably Gran Canaria Blue Chaffinch tomorrow, Tenerife for Tenerife Blue Chaffinch and Bolle's & Laurel Pigeons and Fuerteventura for the Chat and Houbara Bustard.
All the best
Anyone got a number in terms of birds missed twitching and through 'bad' planning, how close to 800 would they be?
And yes, well done guys, great effort.

I was planning to make such a list at the end of the year
My gut feel guess is 780-790 on a perfect strategy and endless money. I get the following 55 'twitchable possibles' from memory (including remaining targets) but just from memory not tallying dates or checking records. My memory is probably flawed:-
Yellow-billed Loon
Swinhoe's Storm Petrel
Goliath Heron
Rüppell's Griffon
Northern Harrier
Shikra
Amur Falcon
Houbara Bustard
Red-necked Stint
Pin-tailed Snipe
Upland Sandpiper
Solitary Sandpiper
Wilson's Phalarope
Laughing Gull
Franklin's Gull
American Herring Gull
Bolle's Pigeon
Laurel Pigeon
Yellow-billed Cuckoo
Belted Kingfisher
White-throated Bee-eater
American Cliff Swallow
Cedar Waxwing
Fuerteventura Chat
Pied Bush Chat
Swainson's Thrush
Grey-cheeked Thrush
American Robin
Radde's Warbler
Grey-headed Chickadee
Caspian Tit
Algerian Nuthatch
Red-billed Firefinch
Tenerife Blue Chaffinch
Scottish Crossbill
Black-and-white Warbler
Tennessee Warbler
American Yellow Warbler
Black-throated Blue Warbler
Black-throated Green Warbler
Magnolia Warbler
Yellow-rumped Warbler
Bay-breasted Warbler
Hooded Warbler
Canada Warbler
Scarlet Tanager
White-crowned Sparrow
White-throated Sparrow
Dark-eyed Junco
Pine Bunting
Pallas's Reed Bunting
Rose-breasted Grosbeak
Indigo Bunting
Red-winged Blackbird
Baltimore Oriole
All the best

Nice one. They added the statement that this Chaffinch is the rarest breeding bird in the WP. Heard this claim before, but if you check IUCNRedList, that spot would be taken by Zino's Petrel given the following estimations:
I think the term 'threatened' is more appropriate given the very small pockets of habitat that the Chaffinch occupies and on that basis, it is extremely vulnerable.
