Doune Castle near Stirling. (1 Viewer)

Just back from the castle grounds and what a super morning it was. No snow, just a sunny winter morning with lots on show. Plenty paths around the castle and along the banks of the River Teith.

Blue tit, Great tit, Coal tit, Long tailed tit, Treecreeper, Goldcrest, Blackbird, Song Thrush, Wood Pidgeon, Mallard, Jackdaw, Dunnock, Robin, Chaffinch and best of all, Bullfinch. It was a rare treat to sit and watch this most striking of finches gorging itself on early buds showing in the deciduous trees. They can really pack it away and it's no wonder they are compared to a tennis ball with wings. Must have saw around half a dozen in total, all except one, male.

Magic.
