Fantail Pigeon (1 Viewer)

Bluetail

Senior Moment
Just a quickie:

I've occasionally heard of pigeon fanciers keeping "Fantail Pigeons" Is this an actual species, or is it just some cultivated variety of Rock Dove? If it is a "real" bird, what is its range?

It's a domestic pigeon derived from the Rock Pigeon. I'm sure if you do an image search on google you'll finds hundreds of pictures. They are a very beautiful bird. They (almost) always have their tail raised and spread like a Tom turkey displaying.

Thanks for that, Dave. I've wondered about that for years. I did wade though a few pages of Google references without finding anything useful, so I thought I'd take the easy way out by asking here.
