Manfrotto 055XPROB with 410 head Tripod kit (1 Viewer)

Hi,

I am looking at the Manfrotto 055XPROB with 410 head Tripod kit.

http://http://www.manfrotto.us/055xprob-tripod-black-and-410-head.

My current setup is a Kowa TSN-823 scope (weight around 5 lbs with bag) and a Nikon D90 camera with a Tamron 18-270mm lens (weight around 5 lbs).

Use of the scope and camera would be car birding and photography. In some cases I might hike it out to an area to bird.

Any thoughts on this tripod kit?

Thanks,

Jeff

Your comment seems to echo this I found at Nikonian.org PDF's titled "Why a ball head": "Geared 3-way heads- only good if subject is inanimate, dead or heavily sedated". It appears they are more for still life, studio and macro when you need precision.

I will look ball heads.

Thanks,
