Brant geese, Netherlands (1 Viewer)

Brent geese, Netherlands

Hi,

Let me preface this by saying I have hardly any experience with geese.
I saw a whole lot of brant/brent geese on Texel last week.
I was happy to leave it at that, but looking at my photos of large flocks, a couple of individuals stood out.
Are they well within normal variation of bernicla or can they be called
1. hrota
and
2. nigricans?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers,
T

1 yes, B. b. hrota.

2 either a dark B. b. bernicla, or possibly a hybrid of B. b. bernicla with B. b. nigricans; not a pure B. b. nigricans.
