There was a CD Rom and DVD Rom (remember them?) version. The latter was called BWPi.

Only one example but I'm running BWPi on a 64 bit system (Windows 7 Home premium) and it seems to work ok.
You can install more than operating system on your pc if it doesn't work for you. I'm guessing you could pick up an earlier os on ebay for a couple of quid.
