Bittell Reservoirs and Hopwood area (1 Viewer)

Tuesday 24th........driving along Longbridge Lane and as I approached the island at Redditch Road a large mainly white bird swooped along the hedgeline and up into the large Oak......I went all round the island and back into a side road and then got up onto the main road just in time to get a few shots off as it flew and took another one up with it......only Buzzards but my 1st here and the one very distinctive. Just sneaked into Worcestershire as well...lol
The Dark one went off down to the Hayes while the other parked itself in the pines over the road.

Marvin Gaye.....

...I only heard this through the grapevine..........
An OSPREY roosted around Upper Bittell on Wednesday night.......I have been around Lower every day and as yet not see one go over......last time I saw one was on Upper around 1973.

Suspect you are correct, think it was there most of the day although didn't see it myself as was at work. My first Osprey was at Bittell in Sept '73 so probably the bird you saw.

I'll never forget seeing Logie there some years ago, on a misty morning. One of those very special sightings.

Upper Bittell Saturday evening.
Another Osprey Probably 3rd in a week
Found by others reported on Worcs birding very promptly enabled me to get there within 10 mins.
Excellent views in sunshine catching v large bream. Struggled to take off with it eventually gained height but dropped it over back fields out of sight about 19.00. It dropped down presumably feeding before hopefully roosting. Could still be about tomorrow fuelling up before continuing migration. Once again cheers for speedy reporting.

5 Common Sandpiper on shore below dam at Upper.....also big flock of Martin/Swallows.
Last nights roosting Osprey flew left (from dam) and over hedge into North
fields at 8.15...eating the remains of last nights fish that it found down the back of the settee. Took flight north with a posse of Corvids harassing it.
Also lots of Pied Wagtail...2/3 GSWoodpecker...Green Woodpecker...Sparrowhawk and Raven landed in field behind Dam either with a duck Egg or investigating one in the grass.

1.Spot Ossie in north field
2.Spot Ossie in north field close up.
3-4. Chased by Corvids

Lower.....same corner as yesterdays Blackcaps I had a Stock Dove inspecting the old rotting tree stump with all the holes in......after a nest ???

In the field with all the S***...sorry silage (stinky) while looking up the hedge for Yellowhammer I almost trod on a Skylark which took off in full song - pity I never herd a note though. It had 2 options - into the sun or not...it chose the wrong one...damn.
