...they have decimated the hedges so not sure many birds will find protection here now.

Think the Wagtail on the wire is a different one as it was up the road by the horse place.

Only found one Wigeon on Mill Shrub and not much else either.

Kingfisher in trees on Fish Ponds.

Buzzard mobbed by Corvids in North fields ....fields are now a clay wasteland after ploughing. A couple of Yellowhammer flying from hedge to hedge.

23 + GC Grebe on Upper .....water level very low.do we need rain or have they dropped the level for some reason.

1...King (large crop)
2 and 3 BH Gull
4 Gull and Midge.

Great to see that Kingfisher up in the tree. I think they use them far more than we expect. I know I usually look on dead branches, reeds etc.

Yes Mary....people think they only use man made perches.....but can fish from 20 feet up to a few inches off a rock.....and not always fishing either.....they will eat alot of other things as well...in or out of the water.

MILL SHRUB.....

Miserable old day today......1/2 a dozen Wigeon and a few Gadwall all I saw on my quick look in early afternoon.

MILL SHRUB.....
Just as dreary as yesterday and a shorter visit before "the match"....

Only had a couple of Wigeon and Gadwall on the water with a Grey Wagtail flying off the outfall up a tree - catching an insect and returning.

Returned after the match and an angler out on a boat so everything had B******* off.

Monday.....No chance at Mill Shrub with angler on a boat keeping everything at the far end....until about 3pm when a couple of Wigeon came closer.

Redwing..Nuthatch..Goldcrest...Wren..Blackbird...Blue Tit...Great Tit..Robin...Rook...Jackdaw...and a KIngfisher ...all while I was waiting on the path up to Upper. The Kingfisher flew up the path about 10 feet high.

Right by my feet were 2 of what I believe are Fly Agaric....never seen ones before.

Lots of Gulls...Geese ...Cormorant and GC Grebes on Upper...any waders would be out of my range on the far shores.

Mistle Thrushes in dust bowl fields behind ponds.

Lower......2 visits.....cold wind blowing across both pools and just a few Tufteds and Mallards daring to show their faces.....

Saw a Buzzard coming into land in a tree while driving along.......stopped and sorted out camera. When I got to gap in a hedge it flew down onto the ground and caught a WORM (between legs)...then up and off into distance......missed focus in flight - caught the tail in one.

UPPER...11am- 4pm..

Goldeneye stayed all day mostly near the dam.
Kingfisher(s) flew up and down dam a couple of times.
Large flock Greylags in North bay.
30-40 Wigeon in north bay.
Few Lapwing on north shore.
40-50 Cormorant...all rounded up for a mass bit of trawling near end of day.
Green Woodpecker flew over pump house into field below dam.
Male G.S. Woody in tree by dam gate.
Loads Redwing in hedges below dam

Couldnt find main target...Purple Sandpiper..but could have been hiding around corner....honest.

Awesome complete double rainbow at 4pm.

EDIT.....I have edited the above mention of the Purple Sandpiper....god knows why I typed Golden Plover......think it was the Goldeneye on my mind...aint this old age thing weird.
