Urgent advice needed INJURED BIRD!!!! (1 Viewer)

Hi, I have just had a young greenfinch hit my window. He is alive and is supporting his own weight, but not very responsive. He has turned his head so no broken neck, but he doesn't seem to want to fly away.

I don't want to leave him in the garden alone in case the neighbours cat or the local sparrow hawks get him.

What should I do??

I would place the bird in a quiet, dark, safe enclosure such as a cardboard box covered with a towel, indoors. You'll be able to tell pretty soon whether the bird, which likely was stunned by the impact, will be able to recover. If it comes around, you can just open the box outdoors and off it will go. If it doesn't seem to be recovering, you will have to try to find a local wild bird care/rescue person/facility.

Thanks Doug, he has just tried to go but I think he is too disorientated to let him go just yet as he aimed for the window again. I have sorted a box for him.

Thanks again for the quick reply.
