Has anyone got their hands on the Uniqball head as advertised by Andy Rouse. I like the idea of the self levelling outer ball but not wholly convinced it would keep lens upright unless licked down or the tension set to high.

I looked at Andy's videos and it looks impressive though a bit overpriced - like most decent photography stuff!
I like the idea that it is half the weight of my Wimberley 2 but the Uniqball needs friction to stop the lens tipping - not sure I would like that. I would have to try one first, but it does look interesting!

Hi Steve, I tried one out in Hungary at Bence Mates farm. It was the bigger version although it's still relatively small, and I was very impressed indeed. We tried a 600mm and swung it about all over the place for a full day and it was rock solid, very impressive movement too.

I am just about to get one, from Andy Rouse,

Cheers

Had my 600f4 on one and was quite happy and it gave me good results. It won't hold the 600 when at a steep angle like a gimbal does but as Chas said its small and does a great job if you want to pan with it as it stays level( once set up). I would be happy to use it again.
