Optics diffraction diffuser (1 Viewer)

My bathroom light fitting failed after 3 or 4 years.
It has a domed diffuser that gives white light from compact fluorescent bulbs.

The area used is 260mm diameter and has about 4,500 reversed pyramids internally. These pyramids have a base of 3.3mm. It is white plastic.

When I looked through it at a bright car window glitter reflection of the sun, a beautiful red X pattern is shown full width. I think monochromatic.
The same colour with tungsten or cfl normal house bulbs.

With a small LED torch the X pattern is yellow.

Any ideas why this effect occurs?
