More info on Leitz Wetzlar 8x32B? (1 Viewer)

I purchased these binoculars awhile back but couldn't find any relevant info for the particular pair. The front has a grey Leitz Wetzlar logo and the back near the eyecups it says: Trinovid 8x32B 130m/1000m and I think it has a serial number of 826402.

Can anyone help me get some info on this pair of binoculars?

Sorry for the second photo being black and white; I resized the photo on a website and it somehow changed the color (or lack thereof)

Hi,

First of all, welcome to BF!

This is a second generation trinovid 8x32B - these were built from 1973 to 1988. Field is 130/1000m as stated.
These still use the Uppendahl prisms but have been modified for better eye relief (but less field) from the first generation 8x32 with 150/1000m. Rubber armoured versions in green called BA became available in 1979. Production stopped of this series stopped in 1988 - the next series used Schmidt-Pechan prisms and was very different.

See http://www.birdforum.net/showthread.php?t=223245 and http://home.europa.com/~telscope/leitzbin.txt

Maybe garymh can chime in - he knows a few things on old Leitz bins and has written a book on the history of the Leitz Trinovids...
