Latest update from the BTO: A tribute to Phil Hollom
Phil Hollom passed away on 20 June 2014. We shall remember him as a pioneering BTO scientist both for his long and distinguished membership, and his contribution to ornithological research. Phil published results of his sample census of Great Crested Grebes between 1946-55 in Bird Study. His continuous research into a House Martin population in Somerset spanned more than 80 years! Phil served on many BTO Committees between 1937-69 and authored BTO Field Guide No.1 Trapping Methods for Ringers. Phil was awarded the BTO Tucker medal in 1954, already marking his outstanding services to the Trust's scientific work.
