hummer question (1 Viewer)

I asked this question on the hummer forum, no replies, don't know if it's an unreservedly dumb question, nobody knows or what. Anyhow, the kids are out and about and I am having trouble telling juvenile rufous males from mature females. Any help from the cognoscenti?

At this stage it is difficult to tell. If you can get a good look at the juvie, the male will start showing pinpint dots on its gorget. Might even be a little too early for that.

Thanks KC. The problem I'm having is distinguishing the nascent gorget on the wee males from the spot of the mature moms.
