Mysterious twilight bird call (1 Viewer)

Hi all,

Please could someone help me identify this bird. In fact, I'm not even 100% sure it's a bird, but I've heard it in countless TV programmes.

Here is a clip of its call:

I think it sounds a bit like a whip-poor-will, but not exactly sure? I usually hear it in TV programmes that take place in North America, and it seems to sing at twilight or during the night.

Many thanks in advance for your help :t:

Ah, thank you so much! ... Mystery solved! Although probably not such a mystery to a Canadian but common knowledge!

I am enamoured by birds of North America, I think hearing these Common Loons calling while you're sat next to a lake must be the most amazing and relaxing experience.
