My New Vintage Canon 7x35 Porro Binoculars (1 Viewer)

I am a big Canon EOS user going back to film. Canon has always made very nice stuff. I picked these up off the auction site a few weeks ago. They are in great shape, very close to new. A few tiny nicks on the metal but thats about it. Lens are not scratched, multi coating is still there, no fungus. Everything works smoothly. Even the case is in great shape. The previous owner told me they are from the 70s to early 80s.

They cost me $45, how could I go wrong. Here are some pics for you guys.

Can anyone tell me more info about them? Any old brochures around?

The two J marks will tell who made them.
I have seen similar binoculars but not owned one.
Maybe single blue coated not multicoated?

Congrats on the new/old Canons pwjp2011. I've got a slightly older model J-B104 / J-E46, which came with the brown leather case, rather than black. It's got a very high level of sharpness and actually works with my eyeglasses if I unscrew the eyecups. Not bad for the $20 I paid for it a few years ago!

You got an even better deal than me!

I agree with you, they are very sharp. Compared to my 7x50 Fujinons they are not quite as bright but they are still excellent.

Makes me wonder what new binoculars do that these dont ;) ?

My JB-104 marked Canon 8x30 serial no. 26395 (brown case) comes up as:

'Kyanon Kamara Co. Ltd. - Canon Camera Co. Ltd.'

What do the black case models come up as ? They seem to have much higher serial numbers.

Recently a acquired also a pair of Canon 7x35 binoculars. I paid 50 Euros including the black leather case. Binos and case are in pristine condition.

I expected a slightly yellow tint according to the experiences other users had. But I was positively disappointed: no tint at all.

They deliver a bright and sharp picture.

No I got infected. The next Canon vintage porros I am looking for are the 6x30 and the 8x30 as well as the 7x50.
