It's been officially stated today, that for the first time since the indistrial revolution, the UK has gone a whole day without using any coal at all for it's electricity supply.

Any word on the tonnage of North American forest that was imported and burnt as wood pellets for the biomass subsidy in power stations such as Drax that would normally have been burning coal?

Can't please everyone.

Where our home is in Russia, we have a coal fired power station about every 4km. Only when our windows get their annual clean, do you realise how much crap is in the air.

Well, yeah, but the UK outsourced most of its industrial production to China. Comparing it's CO2 production now and in the XIXth century is apples to oranges.
