Death of Eric Gillham (1 Viewer)

John Cantelo

Well-known member
It has just been announced on the KOS forum that Eric Gillham has died at the ripe old age of 97. He was one of the leading figures in the history of Kent ornithology being the first editor of the Kent Bird Report (1952-8). He was also well known as the author, with RC Homes, of "Birds of the North Kent Marshes". Latterly, he was widely recognised as THE expert on Aythya hybrids something he was still involved in up until very recently. A great loss and a just reminder that we all stand on giant's shoulders. Sympathies go to his family and friends,
