Vital, if very depressing reading. Next time someone tells you that 'townies' should keep their noses out of rural affairs (as some are wont to do) as farmers have created what we see today and are therefore the best custodians of the countryside, just direct them to the graph in this report showing the huge decline in farmland birds.
