Two nice lifers for me where the White-winged Grosbeak (a party of 11) and Blue-capped Redstart. Himalayan Griffon and Bearded Vultures also passed through, the Griffon even pearched not too far away (still too far for decent photos)
Hier some more pics: View on the beautiful village of Sarytag where I stayed for the night, a young Pied Wheatear, a young Yellow-breasted (Azure) Tit, which I would have taken for a Blue Tit if not for the adult birds with it, a Hare and a Marmot (still have to find out if that's the Europeans or if it's different species here). That's it. Snowcocks next year then
Thanks a lot :t: I take that as a big compliment, seen your stunning pictures in your BC thread (phantastic!). But actually these two were mostly some lucky shots with birds perching close in front of me, so even my bridge camera gives ok results. I'm not really a photographer, just happy to take home some souvenirs from the trips... Cheers, Florian
I only saw one in Kazakhstan and a couple in Sichuan. They were a definite target-bird on both tours.
You have to be in the right place and the right altitude, and they stick to a specific type of habitat. But to be fair, I'm not sure how common they are once you're in the right place.
I think car rental is possible, but I've not tried self driving here... Speaking Russian will help dealing with the numerous police check points and asking for directions...
