Out Skerries ferry changes (1 Viewer)

Any crews doing Shetland this autumn considering a day on Out Skerries may want to know that a new timetable will launch on 26th August. In essence it is generally less straightforward to day trip Skerries.

On Saturday you need to go via Whalsay and change ferries. On Sunday you can get in direct from Vidlin on the mainland, but it doesn't arrive until early afternoon. On Fridays you can get on fairly early via Whalsay, but around lunchtime on the first direct ferry.

Thanks for the heads up Stephen - what days are you on this year?

PS Are the winter ferry schedules published anywhere; the Shetland Island Council website still only has the summer schedule valid up to mid September

Missed your added bit Phil. The SIC are looking to make savings and have only just announced these changes, so I imagine they are a bit behind with some of the winter scheduling.

Cheers Stephen - presumably there are others staying in the peak period? Am getting itchy fingers just thinking about another Scilly vs Shetland thread! :t:

Yes there should be others on late September to mid October, which makes it a decent year for coverage on Skerries really.
